About
Rank The Runner brings you results from the Houston area races, aggregated into a single and convienent location. Those results are then analyzed and rankings are produced for distances ranging from 5K to the Marathon. In addition to overall rankings, runners can be ranked in the context of their age group or by their age graded times.
Our goal is to provide you with a website where you can:
- Find your ranking in the Houston area for all race distance, compare those rankings to rankings from previous years, track your progress and motivate you to produce better performance.
- Find all the latest race results from races all over Houston. We will do our best have race results up on the site the day of the race.
- Find a list of upcoming races in the area to participate in.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is age grading?
Age grading is a way of putting all race participants on a level playing field, regardless of age. Age-graded scores let you compare your race times to other runners of different ages. You get an allowance for every year you age and you can compare your finish time to the open runners, generally 21-32 years of age. Rank The Runner shows age graded times and score for all results. Age graded scores can be interpeted using the following guide:
- 100% = World Record Level
- 90% and greater = World Class
- 80% and greater= National Class
- 70% and greater= Regional Class
- 60% and greater= Local Class
Can I get ranked in two different age groups?
Yes, you can. If your birthday moved you into another age group you will be ranked in both age groups for that year. If you do not have a Rank The Runner account, you will also be ranked twice in the overall and age graded categories.
How come my ranking says "N/A"?
Currently we only rank runners from the Houston area. Consequently, if for a race a runner enters that his or her home town is Chicago, for example, he or she will not be eligible for ranking.
What are the advantages of signing up for a free Rank The Runner account?
Rank The Runner members can claim their results and aggregate all of their results onto a single screen. In the future, we will be adding more features that require membership, which is free.
